Metal Contamination In Winery Applications
Winery equipment can be very expensive to repair or replace.
Using magnetic separators to extract metal fragments from wine product prior to processing prevents damage to the expensive equipment, and in most cases, the return on investment comes very fast.
Usually, damage to equipment is caused by metal entering the grape intakes area and damaging crushers, press equipment, must-pumps, de-stemmers, and other process equipment, causing thousands in repairs and unnecessary maintenance.
There are various types of contaminants which are commonly found in incoming grape receival areas. These include vine fencing staples, pieces of wire, nails, fasteners, small to medium-sized metal brackets and tools, and parts originating from harvesters and other machinery.
What we recommend:
There are two magnetic separators designed specifically for this application.
Our Dimple-Mag® Extraction System and the Multi-Finger Winery Receival Bin Magnet are both an effective solution and a fantastic choice for wineries everywhere.
The advantages of both magnet options:
–Must-pump and crushing equipment protection
–Protection from major damage and wear to screw conveyor flights, knife valves, destemmer, and sensitive bag press equipment
–Complements harvester magnets
–Reduces plant & production downtime – especially in busy vintage and harvest seasons
–Reduces risk of serious damage to expensive equipment
–Foreign metal contamination risk reduction for quality control
