For incoming flour blowlines, the Magnattack Spherical Inline Pneumatic Transfer Magnet is the trusted choice. With its innovative design and over 12,000 gauss magnetic strength, it captures weakly magnetic fragments like work-hardened stainless steel and magnetic stone particles before they enter your baking process. Easy to clean and fully HACCP compliant, this system ensures a strong defense against contamination right from the start.

When it comes to minor dry ingredients & mixing, often overlooked in contamination control, Magnattack offers tailored solutions like the Rapidclean® Drawer and Tubular Magnetic Separators. Installed at bag tipping stations or integrated into conveyor and batching systems, these magnets effectively remove foreign metal particles, safeguarding your mixing process and ensuring peace of mind. For smaller line applications, we recommend a Round Pipe Separator, specially designed with extra high strength at the base of the magnet – this is the point at which metal contamination typically passes through the pipe in these types of applications. 

Minor liquid ingredients & mixing can often be a source of metal fragment contamination. The Pressure Pipeline Separator provides effective indication and retention of metal fragments from liquids as they exit/discharge from tote bins, large containers, and pallecons. As metal fragments are often present in a wide variety of liquids such as oils, chocolate, egg whites, and syrups, these magnets enable thorough inspection and control of incoming/outgoing materials and early detection.

For final protection of finished liquid or emulsion ingredients in the baking industry, such as batter mixes, chocolate, oil, and pie fillings, the Pressure Pipeline Separator and Emulsion & Slurry Pipeline Separator are excellent choices. The ESPS is designed for thick, viscous slurry products, and includes powerful Magnattack® Acutex® Probes, which have a distinctive shape and allow for a very smooth transition of viscous products to move around the magnet with minimum resistance to flow. Maximum product to magnet coverage is achieved without causing leaks, blockages, and pressure problems.

There are two types of magnetic separators we recommend for the sprinkling & topping applications in the baking industry. The Round Pipe Separator is a great choice for toppings that are vacuum transferred, or scooped into a hopper to sprinkle. For applications where toppings are simply sprinkled, a Separation Shaft can be installed at the point of discharge at the end of conveyors. This magnetic separator is designed to split the flow of the product and maximize product-to-magnet contact.

Consider the following when selecting the appropriate magnets for baking ingredients:

  • Will the magnet be positioned in a location that will help identify where metal fragments are coming from (i.e. suppliers of raw material)?
  • Does the working temperature of the product suit the temperature rating of the magnet?
  • Is the magnet design sanitary and compliant?
  • Is the magnet simple to clean and maintain?
  • Does the separator assembly consist of high grade magnetics (such as RE80®) to ensure longevity and maintaining of magnet strength?
  • What design criteria is in place to ensure effective magnetic separation is achieved without blockages?
  • What means are taken to ensure magnet strength is maintained over time?
  • Does the magnet comply with current HACCP and best practice standards (e.g. 0909MAGSEP 2-2021)?
  • Is the magnet supplied with adequate certification?
