Overview

Our patented Probe Magnets are ideal for detecting and collecting metal contamination in food products and for control of incoming ingredients. Magnattack supplies a range of high-intensity probe magnets, available as single units or as part of complete magnetic separation systems.

Acutex® Probe Magnets

The Magnattack Acutex Probe Magnet has a unique design which minimizes the risk of product bridging and consequential product stream blockage, ensuring smooth product flow with minimal impact on product characteristics and line pressure.

The magnet’s shape directs captured metal fragments to the retention area on the back of the probe, where they are securely retained in the low pressure zone, reducing the risk of recontamination. The Acutex Probe Magnet is effective in both high-viscosity emulsion & slurry lines, and in pneumatically conveyed dry products.

With its sanitary design, the Acutex Probe Magnet can be used effectively on its own as an indicator magnet or integrated into Magnattack’s industry-leading magnetic separators, including the Powder Transfer Magnet, Pressure Pipeline Separator, Emulsion & Slurry Pipeline Separator, and Round Pipe Separator.

Key Features and Benefits:

  • Available in 25 mm, 35 mm, 51 mm and 63 mm diameters

Explore the FAQs below to get started.

What is the heat temperature rating of magnet probes from Magnattack?

Most Magnattack probes come standard with a heat temperature rating of up to 302°F (150°C).

How are probe magnets properly cleaned?

The probes must be cleaned manually; however, the cleaning method may vary depending on the product being processed and the flow rate. Each site may present different risks, and cleaning procedures will differ based on the specific requirements of the application. For detailed guidance, please refer to the Magnattack product manual or contact your local Magnattack representative.

What is RE80?

Magnattack and RE80 guarantee quality and performance to our valued food industry partners. RE80 is a patented technology which gives our customer’s assurance of advanced and updated magnetic materials technology.

RE80 provides our customers with the assurance that Magnattack equipment is built with high-quality rare earth magnets, avoiding the low-cost, inferior magnets often used elsewhere. This guarantee represents our commitment to delivering proven, long-term magnet strength and resistance to factors like oxygen absorption and resonant vibration—two major causes of demagnetization in standard rare earth magnets.

At Magnattack, RE80 is our promise of quality and reliability to our valued partners in the food industry. It signifies our dedication to incorporating advanced and updated magnetic materials technology. We understand that customers value RE80® as protection against a growing trend where magnet manufacturers use low-cost, imported magnet sub-assemblies, often only manufacturing the stainless steel housing locally. Such magnets may meet initial strength requirements but lack long-term reliability.

At Magnattack, we meticulously ensure that the chemical and structural composition of every rare earth element meets RE80 specifications. Any material found to fall outside these tolerances is quarantined and not used to maintain RE80’s high quality standards.

What temperatures can magnets be exposed to?

Magnattack RE80HT models can withstand product and CIP cleaning temperatures up to 302°F (150°C).

How often should a magnet be cleaned?

You can determine the appropriate cleaning frequency by inspecting the magnetic separator after the initial installation to assess the amount of contaminants collected. Start off with checks twice a day at minimum and adjust as necessary. This assessment will help you set a cleaning schedule based on the level of contamination detected. Some companies inspect between batches, and others inspect between shifts.

What makes the Acutex Probe Magnet unique?

The Acutex Probe Magnet is exclusively offered by Magnattack. Its unique aero/hydrodynamic design at the probe’s end enables smooth product flow around the magnet, minimizing bulk density breakdown of the product. Additionally, it guides captured metal fragments to the back of the probe, where they are securely held on the magnet, keeping them away from the flow and lowering the risk of re-contamination. The Acutex probe magnets, which are highly sanitary, will also help prevent product bridging and build-up.

What is the average weight of a magnetic probe?

Average weight is 3.3 lbs to 10 lbs (1.5 kg to 4.5 kg) but varies based on the length of the probe.
