Overview

The patented Rapidclean Drawer Magnetic Separator is a dust-tight, sanitary grate magnet engineered to capture and retain even the finest metal fragments, including work-hardened stainless steel. Designed to overcome the limitations of conventional grate magnet technology in the food industry, it features single-bar cleaning to prevent door jamming, a common issue in multi-bar and sleeved grate magnets.

Its cleaning process takes place entirely outside of the product stream, allowing operators to access, inspect, and clean the magnet with minimal recontamination risk. Additionally, the Rapidclean’s quick-release magnetic door closure minimizes powder and product leakage during cleaning.

A swing-away door version is also available to provide easy access in low headroom or confined spaces while maintaining the high hygienic standards needed in food and dairy processing.

Key Features and Benefits:

  • High-intensity magnets certified to +11,000 gauss
  • Withstands cleaning temperatures of up to 150°C (302°F)
  • Combination of various RE80 magnetic element diameters, door designs and sizes are used for optimum retention of small and weakly magnetic fragments
  • USDA Dairy-Accepted and certified models available
  • Cleaning tool and tray assist with safe cleaning of magnet bars and collection of metal fragments

Explore the FAQs below to get started.

Why does a Rapidclean have 2 rows of staggered magnet bars?

A Rapidclean magnetic separator is a modular design that can be customized to meet the specific coverage requirements for the application. The high-strength pole spacing on the top and bottom rows of a Rapidclean are staggered so that fragments traveling through the chamber have less distance to cover as they migrate through the product flow to reach the magnet. Magnet spacing and size specification ensure that the cross-section of product flow is protected and suitable for flow rate and particulate size.

How do you clean the magnet bars in a Rapidclean?

The Rapidclean magnet is supplied with a special wiper cleaning tool. When the end of the tool is put over the end of the magnet bar, metal can be pushed down the length of the magnet bar to the fixing end where there is a non-magnetic section. The metal will drop off the bar and can be collected and taken for analysis. This method allows operators to clean each magnet bar individually for a much more traceable and accurate removal process, reducing the risk of contaminants being lost.

Why is there a larger diameter bar on the bottom row of a Rapidclean?

Some of our 2 row Rapidclean models will have a larger diameter bottom row. This serves 2 important purposes.

  1. Larger diameter high strength magnets on the second pass provide a greater surface area for weakly magnetic fragments to be retained on the underside of the bar, with less chance of being “washed” off by the flow of product.
  2. This means less bars need to be used to maximize product to magnet coverage and less chance of product plugging or blocking.

Is it easy to visually see metal fragments affixed to magnets?

It is very easy to inspect the magnet bars with a Rapidclean because of a captive drawer system that allows you to inspect both the top and bottom of the magnet bars without any heavy lifting. A percentage of paramagnetic fragments may be microscopic/dust size and require closer observation.

What is the significance of the cone on the end of the magnet bar?

The cone at the end of the magnet bar provides structural support for the longevity of the magnet’s strength. The base cone also aids the cleaning process, as its shape allows contaminants to be pushed up onto the low-strength area of the cone, where they can be released from the magnet during cleaning.

Why are the bars of this magnet only mounted on one end?

Magnattack incorporates its exclusive Rapidclean principle, making it compatible with the Rapidclean wiper tool. This allows contaminants to be pushed along the length of the bar to the non-magnetic fixed end using the specially provided cleaning tool. With an enclosed bar arrangement, the main objective is to streamline the cleaning process. This offers a more efficient solution than traditional rotary-style magnets while minimizing direct operator contact with the magnet’s working surface.

What is the weight of the Rapidclean drawer magnet?

Depending on unit size and gear motor selection, the weight ranges from 143 lbs up to 254 lbs (65 kg up to 115 kg).
