Spherical Inline Pneumatic Transfer Magnet
The aerodynamically engineered Magnattack® Spherical Inline Pneumatic Transfer Magnet offers an innovative solution to the challenging task of removing metal fragments from high-speed pneumatic transfer systems.
Overview
The Spherical Inline Pneumatic Transfer Magnet combines high-gauss magnetic strength with an advanced retention design to effectively capture even the smallest metal fines, chips, iron wear, and rust flakes in high-velocity flows. The Spherical Magnet, certified at over twice the strength of conventional pneumatic line magnets, features a large-diameter element (4-6 inches / 100-150 mm) positioned transversely within the product flow. This setup enhances fragment capture and improves sanitary conditions, while the expansive surface area on the back of the sphere holds weakly magnetic fragments securely outside the product zone.
Its compact, easy-to-install design includes various connection fittings, making it suitable for new or existing systems. The magnet’s aerodynamic housing minimizes pressure changes and prevents product breakdown or density changes, while its spherical shape allows fragments to gather in a low-pressure zone, reducing recontamination risks. The Spherical Magnet is a more aerodynamic, hygienic and superior alternative to traditional bullet-type magnet designs, resulting in effectively extracting metal from powder lines without experiencing bulk density problems. Many companies have switched to this smaller, lighter, stronger system, reporting increased separation efficiency and greater assurance in foreign metal fragment control for pneumatic conveying applications.
Key Features and Benefits:
- Powered by RE80® magnets certified to 12,000 gauss (most bullet-type and plate magnets don’t exceed 7,000 – 8,000 gauss)

After all this time, the magnet is still 10,000 gauss, similar to what it was on supply. We test the magnet strength on a regular basis to ensure it is performing at the design level to ensure we maintain the highest level of food safety. Having worked with the team at Magnattack many times, I find Magnattack to be a very helpful, responsive organization, which has provided a professional, high level of personal service when needed, along with providing practical solutions specific to our need for metal fragment control. I have no hesitation in recommending Magnattack to my counterparts within Aryzta or within the food industry.”
“I have nothing but good things to say about the Spherical Magnets. We’ve been using them for nearly 15 years now and they’re still going strong, still picking up fine metal fragments. Highly recommend for any flour or milling application. This design is a huge improvement on heavy Bullet-type magnets – less cumbersome and way easier to clean!”

Explore the FAQs below to get started.
Where is the strength of the Spherical magnet?
With a Spherical Inline Pneumatic Magnet, the strength is in the bulk magnet head giving it a deeper field throw. When working with high-velocity vacuum or positive pressure transfer, the product is moving so quickly that the Spherical bulk head magnet pulls the metal fragments through the product flow and reaches the back of the magnet to keep them out from re-entering the product stream.
Can these be used in vertical transfer lines?
The Spherical Inline Pneumatic Magnet is designed for optimum performance in vertical transfer orientation where product is more evenly distributed over the magnet cross section. They may be installed on a horizontal line on a case by case basis depending on phase or density of the solids.
What is the difference between a Sanitary Powder Transfer Magnet and a Spherical Magnet?
The Powder Transfer Magnet is available in a USDA Acceptance Certification design. Its one-piece construction ensures sanitary use, making it suitable for CIP (Clean-in-Place) processes or full submersion in liquids.
What purpose does the Spherical cone serve?
The Spherical cone directs the product flow to the back of the sphere where metal fragments are retained in a low pressure zone behind the flow of the product.
How is the Spherical Magnet cleaned?
Cleaning the Spherical Inline Pneumatic Transfer Magnet is straightforward. After removing it from the inline housing, place it in the cleaning station to prepare for maintenance. Most contaminants will be located on the back of the sphere, in a low-pressure zone away from direct product flow. Use a cleaning brush to wipe the contamination fragments off the magnet, and collect them for further analysis using a tray. Once you have verified that the magnet surface is clean and all powder residue is removed, return the magnet to the housing. It should not be submerged in liquids or cleaning solutions, rinsed under water or with high-pressure cleaning, or cleaned with detergents.
What is the average weight of the magnet element?
The magnet element alone weighs 10 lbs to 19 lbs (4.5 kg to 8.5 kg) depending on size.
What is the average weight of a complete Spherical Unit?
The average weight is 33 lbs (15 kg) for an SP150 unit; 27 lbs (12.25 kg) for SP100 unit.
